To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.

So wrote the venerable Thomas Aquinas in Summa Theologica.

What is “faith”?  It is the expectation of good things to come which springs from deep within one’s heart and spirit.  It’s believing that life is not in vain, that we can take the next step although we can’t see the entire staircase. Faith illuminates our path in times of darkness, it’s a guiding light in difficult situations. It defies explanation.  Of course, faith can be in God, or in something else that leads towards goodness, but for me it’s in God.  My faith in Him is unshakeable, and it has set me free.
